LIBRARY SCIENCE - qualification and retraining programme
The programmes aim at the acquisition of the competences necessary to practice the occupation of librarian and they consist of two modules, with a duration of 2 and 3 weeks. The participants holding high school diplomas, as well as those holding a college degree participate in a common first module, and then they are split during the second module. The trainers are professionals with experience in info-documentary structures, who use latest training techniques and encourage the exchange of ideas among participants.
The competency areas are:
- working procedures in internal services and technical problems, as well the cataloguing/classification/indexing of library documents;
- administrative, communication problems, conservation, legal issues, collections and acquisitions;
- drafting of notices and receipts, administrative and accounting documents, acquisition of library documents, storage and conservation of library documents, bookkeeping of library documents from funds, inventory of library funds;
- management of public interest and utility information;
- promotion of library services and products, user consultancy, communication with beneficiaries, supply of library documents towards the user;
- internal and external communication;
- maintenance of professional cooperation relationships with the authorities, the community, sponsors and the media.
At the end of the programme, the participants with high school diplomas will receive a qualification diploma, while those with university degrees will receive a graduation certificate, valid for any type of info-documentary structures.

- bookkeeping and capitalization of movable cultural goods - books.
